Request Val Halla’s NO PLACE album on your local area radio – Here are the phone numbers of stations that are playing it!

Hey friends,

I’m in portland, oregon right now sitting at the Twilight Cafe & Bar enjoying a nice rum and cola beverage, getting ready to see our stellar rhythm section perform one of their face melting MOLTEN LAVA shows!

While sitting here, I figured it was a good time to send some information out to you regarding our radio campaign.

I’ve never done one of these before, but I figured it was worth a try to see where in the country people are groovin on Val Halla tunes.

from the first few weeks we have some information as far as where the album has been added, and how often it is being played (Light rotation, medium, or heavy).

I’ve tried to include that info for you as well incase you are interested at all! We still have another 4 weeks to go where we expect and hope that more stations will be adding the album to their playlists. And we hope that those stations where it has just recently been added or is being played in light rotation, will see an increase in plays as well.

So if you would like to request to hear a song off of NO PLACE, please feel free to call or email the station in your area and make a request!

the more it gets played, the more people have the chance to hear the music, and the more likely we will be to come back to your area of the country on the next tour! We want to play to people who dig the music you see!

Request lines are listed under the state the station is in! Only Ontario has picked up the album so far in Canada, but in the next 4 weeks we hope to have more stations added in Canada that we can tell you about!

P.S. EVERYONE IN SASKATCHEWAN, CBC Radio has been playing songs off the album so please go to them with your requests!!!

Take care folks out there! Rah rah rah Vancouver Canucks! Bruins fans I have always loved Boston as a team, but this year I have to unfortunately cheer against them. But let’s all stay friends and look forward to one heck of a Stanley Cup series this year :-)

P.P.S. the Trailor Park Boys were doing comedy next door to where we are last night in portland. It was $35 tickets and alas we could not afford to go. But felt great to feel their presence in Portland!

So we’re an hour and a half outside of Reno, Nevada. We have been driving west since leaving Toledo, Oh yesterday around noon. It is currently 9:24pm at night (12:24am in Toledo….a good 36 hours since we started our journey in the van).

This past Saturday night we opened up for the Rock N Roll legend and super hero, Alice Cooper. It was an eye opening night, seeing the sheer spectacle of his show and how that added to the overall experience of GREAT live music.

Tristan is a huge Alice Cooper fan since his dad had been a huge fan as well, and put him on to Alice’s music at an early age. It was a great night of reflection and celebration for Tristan and his family, and all of us in the band included. I’m personally thankful to Tristan’s dad for giving him proper schooling in Rock N Roll or I wouldn’t be so lucky to have such a great drummer to rock out with each and every night ☺ I know his dad probably had something to do with how we got booked to open for Alice Cooper in the first place, and that he is smiling down with pride right now at what his son has accomplished.

Our set went great and included our slow blues song “Drink My Life Away” (which features Elliott Randall of Steely Dan fame as the last song on our album No Place) for the first time at a large scale show like this. This song will probably find its way into the set more and more now though as it has become a band favourite! I also get to rock a guitar solo right in the middle of it which I have to say I just LOVE doing these days!!!

After the show we were escorted onto Alice’s tour bus to meet the dark master himself. What a nice guy he is! We chatted with him for 10 to 15 minutes or so and he complimented te band a few times to our great joy! His parting words were “keep going no matter what!” and “We’ll see you out there again sometime!” Very positive words to hear!

Special thanks to our friends Alexis LaPorta, Megan Severance, Kayla Moss, and Diana Bryson who came out to help us sell merchandise at the show. They were great sales women and great supporters and friends to have their with us, and share in that awesome night.

I’ve gone through one complete round of antibiotics already still trying to fight off my strep throat. I was sick for 2 weeks before I made it to a doctor, and then I got these antibiotics which I took for 10 days, only to remain ill with a very hoarse & scratchy throat each night after I was done singing. Thank goodness my voice seemed to hold out every night still while we did our set though. Must be the rock gods smiling on me again. So now I’m on round 2 with a stronger antibiotic so let’s hope this does the trick….

I’m quite exhausted but still loving life. Tristan and Liam are both great travel companions and bandmates so it makes a 40 hour trip in the van a breeze.

I will try to post our Alice Cooper pictures in the next few days. I had a great moment of “We’re not worthy” captured on camera in honour of the many many hours my sister and I spent watching Wayne’s World over the years, idolizing Alice Cooper as a rock icon and dare I say it ROCK GOD.

Even though Saturday was supposed to be the end of the world, I had no fear working up to our 6pm sound check that day, even when I found out 6pm was supposed to be the hour of the RAPTURE! I’m pretty sure if there is any person on this earth one would want to be in the company of at the time of the Rapture, Alice Cooper would be a first choice for many! ☺

Talk soon friends, hope this finds you well and happy Victoria Day to those in Canada!

Happy Easter and Happy Hockey Playoffs! :-)

We are somewhere between Lancaster, PA and West Haven, CT listening to the Flyers vs Sabres Hockey game.

This time of year is always great because we’re getting to catch what we can of Hockey playoffs, and we get to attend the Launch Music Conference in Lancaster every year. It is one of my favorite music conferences to go to, and Lancaster County is one of the coolest places in the country. I have to say we are heading to Connecticut feeling refreshed after a ripping show last night at Lizard Lounge, and a great breakfast made by our friend Kyle this morning.

We had a scare being surrounded by a few tornados down in North Carolina last week while driving from Fayetteville to Raleigh. They touched down all around us and we saw the unfortunate aftermath, but I’m thankful the band and the van, our Tennessee Tanya, are all safe and sound.

Big news this month of course was the announcement of the Val Halla show on May 21st which will be at Centennial Terrace in Sylvania, OH (just outside of Toledo). The icing on the cake for this show is that we are opening the show for recent Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductee ALICE COOPER.

THIS IS A HUGE SHOW to us. Getting to work with the greats who have come before you is a chance to honor your rock n roll heroes. I never thought when I was 11 years old watching Wayne’s World and seeing Alice Cooper stand in front of Wayne and Garth as they bowed “We’re not worthy! We’re not worthy!” that one day, I too, may have to declare my unworthiness before Alice! J

We’re also still trying to organize for our fundraising push for The Bad Girl Touch music video. We will not be able to do it the weekend of May 20th in L.A. now because that is when we will be in Ohio opening for Alice Cooper. So the video has been delayed only for a short time. We will be selling off a couple of my guitars… and Acoustic Epiphone and a Fender Telecaster, both of which were featured in promo photos for the Bad Girl Touch tour. I will let you know when we have more on this, as I’m not sure right now where the website will be to donate, donate for rewards (tshirts cds etc), or donate for a guitar.

Stay tuned!!!

We have plenty of shows left on the tour, so please check the schedule to see when we are coming near you!

Happy Easter and stay safe and well! Go Canucks Go! Go Predators Go!

-Val
